Press Secretary

Solomon Jamiru Esq.

Solomon Jamiru is President Julius Maada Bio’s Press Secretary. He became a lawyer in 2006 and also holds a degree in Political Science.

He has served in several positions prior to his current role, first appointed by President Bio in May 2018 as Deputy Minister of Information and Communications. He would later be transferred as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

He has also served as National Spokesperson for the country’s COVID-19 Emergency Response. He returned to the Information and Communications Ministry until his appointment as Press Secretary.

He believes in press freedom, as well as an informed and vibrant citizenry. He holds the belief that accessing information and exercising one’s freedom of expression are, therefore, two vital ingredients of a democratic society.

As Press Secretary, Solomon Jamiru commits to deepening relations with the media and working with colleagues to ensure the citizens and the world stay positively informed about the Presidency in the Republic of Sierra Leone.
