The Tokyo International Conference on African Development is a summit-level international conference focusing on development in Africa. It was created in 1993 by the Government of Japan to promote policy dialogue between leaders of African countries and development partners on pressing issues facing Africa such as economic development, poverty, and conflict.
Since its inception, TICAD has evolved into a significant global framework to facilitate the implementation of measures for promoting African development under the principles of African “ownership” and international “partnership”. The Summit is co-organised by the Government of Japan, the United Nations, World Bank, United Nations Development Programme, and the African Union Commission.
His Excellency President Dr Julius Maada Bio will depart Lungi International Airport today, 25 August 2019 and will return to Sierra Leone on 1 September 2019. He will be accompanied by Her Excellency Madam Fatima Bio.
