President Bio to Attend African Union Summit in Mauritania
His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio will join his colleagues, Heads of State and Government, to grace the 31st Ordinary Session of the African Union Assembly slated for 30th June – 2nd July 2018 in Nouakchott, Mauritania.
The theme for this year’s summit is: “WINNING THE FIGHT AGAINST CORRUPTION: A SUSTAINABLE PATH TO AFRICA’S TRANSFORMATION”. His Excellency will address the summit on this theme where he is expected to reveal his “democratic war on corruption”. President Bio will also deliver a statement on the signing of the Africa Continental Free Trade Agreement which is expected to boost the Intra-Africa trade.
In his capacity as Coordinator of the African Union Committee of Ten (C-10) on United Nations Security Council Reform, His Excellency President Bio will also chair a C-10 Meeting on the margins of the 31st African Union Assembly of Heads of State.
Additionally, in his capacity as Chairperson of the Peace and Security Council of the African Union, His Excellency President Bio will also chair a Peace and Security Council Meeting of Heads of State and Government.
His Excellency President Bio and entourage will depart on Friday 29th June 2018 for Nouakchott, Mauritania. The First Lady, Mrs Fatima Bio will also accompany His Excellency to attend the 31st African Union Assembly of Heads of State and Government.
