President Koroma Swears in Riots Commission on Birthday

President Ernest Bai Koroma has today 2nd October 2009–his birthday–sworn in the Independent Review Commission set up to review and determine the circumstances as well as establish the facts relating to (i) incidents of political violence and intolerance that occurred during the month of March 2009 in Gendema (Pujehun District), Freetown (Western Urban) and Kenema (Kenema District), and relating to the roles and responsibilities of political parties, law enforcement agencies or any other persons or groups with regards the afore-mentioned incidents of political violence and intolerance.

President Koroma Invokes MACP Protocol as a Response to Spate of Armed Robberies

In recent months, the peaceful citizens of our country have been subjected to a rising spate of armed robbery in both the Western Area and the Provincial Towns. This has created a feeling of insecurity that threatens to affect the normal conduct and day to day activities of our citizens. I consider this situation totally unacceptable.

 12-5It was like taking a long shot into the future, and indeed it was a once-in-a lifetime reality for many Sierra Leoneans, when President Koroma today received at State House FIFA officials with the much-coveted World Cup trophy on an African familiarization tour ahead of the 2010 World Cup Finals in South Africa–the first ever on the continent.
