President Bio Pledges Support to Infrastructural Development

Bo City, Southern Region – His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio has said that his administration will provide the required support to infrastructural development in Sierra Leone. He made this statement on Friday, 8th June during the commissioning of plants and machinery owned by First Tricon Limited that will be used for the construction works on the Bo – Mattru road project.

President Bio said that infrastructural development helps to reduce poverty by increasing the flow of commercial activities in the country which benefits both the government and its people. He noted that his new direction agenda places infrastructure as one of its topmost priorities. He stated that he is proud to learn that First Tricon Limited is owned by Africans and therefore encouraged other continental business groups to invest in the country.

His Excellency expressed his excitement about the project which will lead to his hometown something which he acknowledged had been a dream for many years. He also lauded the company for providing training opportunities for a lot of Sierra Leoneans who are now equipped enough to operate highly sophisticated machines saying that it will help to develop the lives of the trainees. He vowed to provide the company the necessary support needed to complete the project.

“My government will provide you with the support to ensure that you finish the work within the stipulated time. We will frown against anything that has the potential to impede on the furtherance of this work,” he said.

In another development, His Excellency President Bio cut the tape at the flag-off ceremony for the construction work on the Bo-Mattru Road Project.

Also in attendance included the Chief Minister Professor David J. Francis, Minister of Works and Public Assets Raymond De Souza George, Leader of Government Business in Parliament, Honourable Sidi Tunis, Minister of Energy, Alhaji Kanja Sesay, Resident Minister – South, Mohamed E.K Allie and other dignitaries of government.
