SLANGO Calls President Koroma
A cross-section of Board Members of the Sierra Leone Association of Non-Governmental Organizations has called on President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma at State House. The visit was to inform the President about the operations and activities of SLANGO in the country.

The Vice Chairman of SLANGO Andrew Conteh said the organization was established sixteen years ago with the mandate to foster cooperation, networking and facilitate the building of capacity within the NGO sector.

The Chairperson, Edward Sam said the Commission is please to note that the human rights situation in Sierra Leone in 2009 was generally satisfactory and commended the government for its observance and respect for many of the fundamental rights and freedom set out in our 1991 constitution and in international agreements that the country has signed and ratified.

The President was speaking while receiving in audience officials of the high-level intercontinental labour organization, Education International, and the International Secretary of the Danish Union of Teachers, accompanied by members of the Sierra Leone Labour Congress, who paid him a courtesy call at State House today.

GOVERNMENT SECURES MULTI-MILLION-DOLLAR FUNDING FOR AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTIVITY

 

government secures23His Excellency the President, Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma, is pleased to announce that the Global Agriculture and Food Security Programme (GAFSP) has approved a request from the Government of Sierra Leone for fifty million dollars (US$50 million) in support of the Government's Smallholder Commercialisation Programme. Sierra Leone is one of the first five countries to benefit from the Global Agriculture and Food Security Programme funding.
