President Koroma receives Queen's Baton

images/pics/qb018.jpgHis Excellency the President Dr Ernest Bai Koroma on Thursday March 16th, 2017, received at State House the Queen’s Baton from the Queen’s Baton Relay delegation led by Louis Martin, president of Commonwealth Games Federation.

President of the National Olympic Committee, Dr Patrick Coker, said the next Commonwealth Games will commence on 4th April, 2018 on the Gold Coast, Queensland in Australia and that Sierra Leone as usual would fully participate in the competition.

Welcoming the delegation, President Koroma thanked the President of Commonwealth Games Federation for considering Sierra Leone as her first port of call and expressed hope that the country would do well in the forthcoming Commonwealth games and win more trophies than ever before.

“We shall be more active than we have been in the past,” he said, adding that Sierra Leone will win more trophies and medals this time round.

Madam Louis Martin was accompanied by the Regional Vice President for Africa, Miriam Moyo, and the Australian High Commissioner, Andrew Barnes, who is based in Accra, Ghana.
