President Dr Ernest Bai Koroma on Friday February 3rd, 2017, officially opened the United Bank of Africa (UBA) Bo branch located along Dambala Road in Bo city.
He described the opening of the bank in Bo as a clear indication that the country is returning to normalcy and that government must encourage banking institutions to stick to their core basics. The president lamented over the fact that the country was doing well when Ebola struck which considerably reversed all gains made over the years. He however reported on the country’s growth rate after Ebola to 4% in 2016 which has gradually increased to 5% in 2017.
Acting Board Chairman of UBA, Kofie Macauley, heartily thanked the government for creating the enabling environment that has given the UBA bank the impetus to extend its branch to Bo in the southern region. He disclosed that the UBA has got seven branches nationwide with one hundred and twenty-four indigenous employees.
The ceremony climaxed with an inspection tour of the bank and its facilities, including the Automated Teller Machine (ATM) by the president.
