His Excellency President Rtd. Julius Maada Bio takes oath of Office

At a crowded ceremony graced by dignitaries and supporters at the Raddisson Blu hotel Freetown Sierra Leone. The Chief justice swore in the President Rtd. Brigadier Maada Bio and the Vice President Dr. Juldeh Jalloh was sworn in by His Excellency to assume their offices. They were sworn in just after they were pronounced winners by N’Fah Allie Conteh, Chief Returning officer of the National electoral Commission of the 2018 Presidential runoff elections in Sierra Leone.

In a short speech by his Excellency, He thanked all his supporters and family for their unwavering support to bring change to Sierra Leone and thanked all those who voted for him and those who did not and asked all Sierra Leoneans for unity and their cooperation to bring change by way of the New Direction agenda set by his team. He lso thanked the outgoing president and competitors.

He pledged to unfold his detail agenda in future speeches. The ceremony closed by chants of Maaaaadaaaa Bioooooo, Maaaadaaa BIooooAaay, President Bioooooooo! President Biooooo aaaaaay!

Vice Chairman, Standard Chartered Bank Calls on President Koroma

The Vice Chairman of Standard Chartered Bank Africa, Mr Richard Etemesi Wednesday 25th October, 2017 paid a courtesy call on President Dr Ernest Bai Koroma at State House in Freetown.

Mr Etemesi was in Sierra Leone to explore opportunities for better understanding of the country’s banking business, policy and regulations governing the industry. He disclosed that Standard Chartered Bank has identified education, agriculture, infrastructure and other sectors as possible areas of intervention.

Welcoming the Vice Chairman, President Koroma assured of government’s commitment to provide a conducive business environment, adding that the bank has a long history with Sierra Leone. He said Standard Chartered Bank has served as one of the leading banks in Sierra Leone with high level of professionalism and consistency, saying that the bank has been very supportive.

President Koroma also commended the new initiatives and policy approaches of the bank in supporting government through infrastructure, education and agriculture, pointing out that there are also huge potentials in tourism.
